Got Access?

February 26, 2010 at 8:09 am Leave a comment

After spending the last three days at a Level I ADAAG (ADA Accessibility Guidelines) training, I find myself even more distracted than before by everything in my environment, trying to figure out what could be wrong with the accessibility.  The entire time we were reviewing the guidelines I kept having personal anecdotes pop into my head:  the very uneven sidewalks with extreme cross slope in Philadelphia, the restaurant with the platform lift that required we call (and wait 15 minutes) for an attendant which made us late for our reservation, the Valentine’s day ramp debacle discussed in a previous blog post, and the inability for Bill to use batting cages this summer with his nieces, to name just a few.

Is your usual traffic pattern throughout your day accessible to all people?  How about your office? Grocery store? Favorite restaurant? Think about this as you are traveling to and from work today and share your comments and/or personal stories.
