Not your typical cup of Joe….Inspired by Aspire CoffeeWorks

I have always been a believer that I can always find a way to get my clients to participate in activities; it just might have to be done a bit differently.  One of my current contracts is to provide Occupational Therapy and Assistive Technology services to young adults with developmental disabilities in an Adult Action Program.  The program is activity-based, and my role is to adapt and modify the activities in any way to allow all the young adults the ability to participate to the greatest extent possible.

This program is invaluable as there are limited postsecondary resources for young adults with severe developmental disabilities.  I am always inspired to hear of new programs for children and adults with disabilities that provide for opportunities to work, volunteer or participate in activities.  One such company is Aspire CoffeeWorks in Chicago.

Aspire CoffeWorks is a partnership between Aspire and Metropolis Coffee Company.  The collaboration of these two companies offers “craft-roasted coffees while opening new horizons for people with disabilities”.  Not only does this partnership offer supportive work opportunities for adults with disabilities to grind, package and ship coffee orders alongside the Metropolis Coffee team, 100% of the proceeds benefit Aspire’s programs for people with disabilities.

This is a cup of coffee that is truly good to the last drop.
